Session Four Highlights Urban Development in Asia and the Pacific

On 24 June 2025, the fourth session of the Road Safety Capacity Building Program webinar series was held. The series, Innovations in Safe and Sustainable Transport: Road Safety as part of Liveable & Resilient Cities, is co-presented by the Asia Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the CAREC program. 

 

The fourth session of the program, which gathered 138 online participants, explored on:

✅ Road safety as part of broader urban resilience planning and investment

✅ Safe and accessible transportation for health and social outcomes

✅ Case study examples

 

Deliani Siregar, the Urban Planning and Inclusivity Manager at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) shared best practices in urban development. Lara Arjan, Senior Urban Development Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) spoke about transportation planning and urban development in Asia and the Pacific. Rebecca Stapleton, Senior Transport Specialist at the ADB, shared a case study on gender and safety in ger areas in Mongolia. The session was moderated by Jessica Truong, Director of Lӧsningar, and included active participant engagement through Q&A and topical polls.
