The Asia-Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO) participated in the Asia-Pacific Training Workshop under the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Safe Mobility 4 All & 4 Life Initiative, held from 5–6 March 2026 in Pasay City, Manila.

The initiative brings together leaders from automobile clubs and government authorities across several countries in the Asia-Pacific region to identify priority areas for collaboration and develop targeted road safety interventions aimed at reducing road traffic fatalities and injuries.

Sessions during the workshop highlighted the importance of partnerships and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the need for stronger data systems to support progress toward the 2030 road safety targets.

Representing the APRSO Secretariat, Priti Gautam, Senior Transport Specialist and Road Safety Lead at the Asian Development Bank, shared regional insights on road safety and innovations supported by the Observatory to strengthen road safety delivery in the region. These include AI-enabled collection of Safety Performance Indicator data, such as helmet use and vehicle speed. She also provided technical input to the project proposals being developed by programme participants.

Through engagements such as this workshop, APRSO continues to collaborate with regional partners to strengthen data systems, support evidence-based road safety policies, and advance initiatives that reduce road traffic injuries and fatalities across the Asia-Pacific region.
