The Asia-Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO) is proposed by a group of international development organizations, The World Bank, Fédération Internationale de l' Automobile (FIA), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the International Transport Forum (ITF) and The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the GRSF (using funding from UK Aid).

The APRSO, which aims to become the regional forum for road safety data, policies and practices across Asia and the Pacific will provide a platform for decision-makers from countries in Asia and the Pacific to learn more on the importance of crash data, but also to foster the development of a synergistic environment to empower countries to collect useful and timely information to address the ongoing road safety epidemic.

The development partners organized the Second Workshop towards the establishment of The Asia-Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO) on 3-4 December 2019 in Bangkok. The workshop focused on: a) clarifying the mission of APRSO, b) reaching consensus among countries on how to make APRSO as an interactive forum to share experiences, data, and information, c) identifying next steps on how to achieve short-term and long-term outputs, including a road safety database. The workshop was attended by government officials from 17 countries, multilateral development banks (MDBs), bi-lateral donor countries and multiple international development agencies related to road safety.

The second workshop was a follow-up to the first Workshop on APRSO which was hosted by the World Bank in Singapore on 20-21 March 2019 which was attended by government officials from 15 countries and other stakeholders related to road safety.
