ADB and partners receive Prince Michael International Road Road Safety Award
The important activities on building capacity of ADB and partners in road safety to prevent serious injuries and deaths were recognized as a recipient of the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award 2023. The ADB-led partnership program with Asia Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO), Global Road Safety Partnership, International Road Assessment Programme, and the Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF) reached 1,300 participants in 70 countries, strengthening road safety management, usage, and infrastructure.
"ADB is committed to assisting its Developing Member Countries in reducing death and injury from road crashes - to achieve this the Bank provides the Secretariat to the APRSO, and delivers regionally relevant programs and projects to improve road systems and country capacity. The Road Safety Capacity Building Programme is an important part of this effort and we are delighted to receive this award alongside our partners GRSP and iRAP," said James Leather, Director, Transport Sector, Sectors Group, ADB.
APRSO is funded by GRSF of the World Bank and the People of Japan through the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia.
